Tonight (Aug. 18, 2013), World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) brings Summerslam to the Staples Center in Los Angeles, Calif., on pay-per-view (PPV). The co-main event of the evening features former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar in a match with CM Punk.
After retiring from MMA following two consecutive losses at the hands of Cain Velasquez and Alistair Overeem, Lesnar entered into negotiations with the WWE. His return was a complete surprise when he showed up on the April 2, 2012, episode of Monday Night Raw to confront John Cena.
He was booked as a monster, but in his first match back, he lost cleanly to Cena at Extreme Rules. Jokes hit the Internet that Lesnar was on a three-fight losing streak. He bounced back with a win over HHH at SummerSlam last summer, winning with a kimura.
HHH got his revenge at Wrestlemania 29 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, finishing Lesnar with the aid of the steel steps. The two met for the third and final time at No Way Out, where Lesnar beat HHH with the aid of Paul Heyman, bringing his overall record to 2-2 since his return to professional record.
In terms of professional wrestling, Lesnar's latest run in the WWE has been pretty disappointing. His contract is for limited dates and after losing his return match against Cena, it's been a struggle to recreate that initial heat.
Tonight, Lesnar finds himself in the middle of a feud between CM Punk and Paul Heyman. The match has been building over the past few weeks on WWE television, with Lesnar and Punk having several very real and very physical scuffles, including one that resulted in Punk's chin being split open and needing several stitches.
The match is being built as "The Beast vs. The Best" and that's a good way to describe it. Punk is considered by many to be the best all-around wrestler in the promotion, while Lesnar's entire character focuses on his raw strength. This match has the potential to steal the show because of the physicality of the two performers.

Gardena (CA) Junipero Serra cornerback Adoree' JacksonThe BBQ at the Big House is a recruiting event that was started by former Michigan coach Rich Rodriguez. Rather than having a junior day or Friday Night Lights type of event, the coaches host players for a BBQ in July. This year's event will take place on July 27 (for 2015/2016 prospects) and July 28 (for 2014 prospects). Here's a list of the players who have said they'll be at the BBQ:Joshua Alabi - DT - Detroit (MI) Cass Tech: Alabi is a 6'4", 260 lb. prospect for 2015. He has offers from Michigan, Michigan State, Nebraska, Ohio State, Tennessee, and Wisconsin, among others. 247 Sports ranks him as the #26 offensive tackle and #229 player overall.Kalen Ballage - RB - Peyton (CO) Falcon: I wrote up a scouting report on Ballage in May. As a sophomore in 2012, he had 502 passing yards for 3 touchdowns, along with 719 rushing yards and 9 touchdowns.Michael Ferns III - LB - St. Clairsville (OH) St. Clairsville: Ferns committed to Michigan last August.Desmond Fitzpatrick - WR - Farmington (MI) Farmington: Fitzpatrick is a 5'11", 165 lb. prospect for 2016 offers from Indiana, Ohio, and Toledo. He played for Farmington Harrison last season, but is transferring to Farmington High for the coming year.Leonard Fournette - RB - New Orleans (LA) St. Augustine: Fournette is a 6'1", 225 lb. prospect with offers from just about everyone; his two leaders appear to be Alabama and LSU. Michigan was not mentioned in regard to Fournette until Jabrill Peppers committed and started talking to and about him being a part of Michigan's class. According to 247's Composite ranking, Fournette is the #1 player in the entire class. As a junior in 2012, he had 196 carries for 2,136 yards and 31 touchdowns. That's 10.9 yards/carry. Chances are slim that Michigan jumps in front of those two SEC schools, but it can't hurt to get him on campus. There's a chance that he might really like it, and it puts Ann Arbor in the minds of other top prospects.Da'Shawn Hand - DE - Woodbridge (VA) Woodbridge: I wrote up a scouting report on Hand back in February. He recently announced a top three that included Michigan and eliminated long-time favorite Virginia Tech. UPDATE: Hand will not be able to make the visit.Dele Harding - LB - Elkton (MD) Eastern Christian Academy: Harding is a 6'1", 218 lb. prospect for 2016 with offers from Massachusetts, Tennessee, and USC. He's the teammate of Michigan commits Brandon Watson and Freddy Canteen. Harding camped at Michigan back in June and was told by Michigan's coaches that he would probably be offered down the road, but it's still pretty early for the class of 2016.Drake Harris - WR - Grand Rapids (MI) Christian: Harris committed to Michigan in April.Justin Hilliard - LB - Cincinnati (OH) St. Xavier: Hilliard is a 6'2", 225 lb. prospect for 2015 with offers from Arkansas, Iowa, Michigan, Notre Dame, and Ohio State, among others. As a sophomore in 2012, he had 65 tackles, 7 sacks, 2 interceptions, and 1 forced fumble. It's still fairly early, but in my opinion, Hilliard is the best Ohio player in his class.Jonathan Hilliman - RB - Jersey City (NJ) St. Peters Prep: I wrote up a scouting report on Hilliman back in December. He recently announced Ohio State as his favorite. UPDATE: Hilliman is no longer planning to attend the event.Corey Holmes - WR - Fort Lauderdale (FL) St. Thomas Aquinas: I wrote up a scouting report on Holmes a few months ago. He declared Michigan as his leader early, but the Wolverines seem to have faded, perhaps by their choice. It seems like Michigan has been pursuing some other wide receiver targets harder. UPDATE: Holmes committed to Notre Dame and will not visit Michigan.Adoree' Jackson - CB - Junipero (CA) Gardena Serra: I wrote up a scouting report on Jackson back in March. He has aspirations in track and field, so while he likes Michigan, it might be tough to keep him away from schools that have better track programs. UPDATE: Jackson likely will not visit at this point.Van Jefferson - WR - Brentwood (TN) Ravenwood: Jefferson is a 6'2", 164 lb. prospect for 2015 with offers from Middle Tennessee State, Penn State, and Vanderbilt. He used to attend Orchard Lake (MI) St. Mary's and is the son of former Detroit Lions wideout and current Tennessee Titans wide receivers coach Shawn Jefferson. The elder Jefferson attended Central Florida, in case you were wondering. UPDATE: Jefferson no longer plans to attend the BBQ.Sterling Jenkins - OT - Pittsburgh (PA) Baldwin: Jenkins is a 6'8", 305 lb. prospect for 2015 with offers from Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State, and Pitt, among others. According to 247 Sports, he's a 4-star, the #7 offensive tackle, and the #86 overall player in his class.Tyree Kinnel - S - Huber Heights (OH) Wayne: Kinnel is a 6'0", 190 lb. prospect for 2015 with offers from Arkansas and Kentucky. He has visited Michigan numerous times and is getting a bit antsy for an offer, but the fact that he keeps visiting Ann Arbor suggests that he really likes the Wolverines.Marshon Lattimore - WR - Cleveland (OH) Glenville: Lattimore is a 6'0", 175 lb. prospect with offers from Alabama, Michigan, Ohio State, Oregon, Penn State, Tennessee, and USC, among others. According to 247's Composite ranking, he's a 5-star, the #5 cornerback, and the #32 overall player in the country. Almost everyone expects him to pick Ohio State eventually, but he was invited to the BBQ and is considering attending, so there will be a chance to sway him.Thiyo Lukusa - OG - Traverse City (MI) West: Lukusa is a 6'5", 300 lb. prospect for the class of 2016. He has no offers at this time.Lawrence Marshall - DE - Southfield (MI) Southfield: Marshall committed to Michigan in May.Osa Masina - LB - Salt Lake City (UT) Brighton: Masina is a 6'4", 207 lb. prospect for 2015 with offers from Michigan, Oklahoma, Utah, and Wisconsin, along with several others. He has a brother at Utah and the Utes appear to be Osa's favorite. According to 247 Sports, he's a 4-star, the #17 athlete, and the #206 overall player in his class.Malik McDowell - DE - Detroit (MI) Loyola: McDowell is a 6'7", 290 lb. prospect with offers from Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State, and numerous others. According to 247's Composite ranking, he's a 5-star, the #3 strongside end, and the #33 player overall. He is attempting to transfer to Southfield and become teammates with Lawrence Marshall, but that hasn't been finalized yet.Montae Nicholson - S - Monroeville (PA) Gateway: Nicholson is a 6'3", 200 lb. prospect with offers from Florida State, Miami, Michigan, Ohio State, Oregon, Stanford, and Virginia Tech, among others. As a junior in 2012, he had 28 tackles, 2 interceptions (both returned for touchdowns), 2 forced fumbles, and 3 fumble recoveries; he also had 25 receptions for 653 yards and 6 touchdowns. He was one of Michigan's first few offers for the 2014 class after camping in Ann Arbor last summer. While Michigan is recruiting him as a safety, he's also considering playing wide receiver in college. UPDATE: Nicholson is no longer attending the BBQ.Darrion Owens - LB - Orange Park (FL) Oakleaf: Owens is a 6'3", 216 lb. prospect with offers from Auburn, Georgia, Miami, Michigan, and Ohio State, among others. He plays some safety in high school, but Michigan is looking at him as a SAM linebacker. As a junior in 2012, he had 101 tackles, 5 tackles for loss, 2 interceptions, 6 pass breakups, 1 forced fumble, and 1 fumble recovery. According to 247's Composite ranking, he's a 3-star, the #42 outside linebacker, and the #561 player overall. UPDATE: Owens committed to Miami and said he won't take other visits.Tommy Roush - OG - Traverse City (MI) West: Roush is a 6'3", 270 lb. prospect for 2016 with no offers at this time. He camped at Michigan in June. Roush played for Petoskey (MI) Petosky last fall before transferring.Artavis Scott - WR - Tarpon Springs (FL) East Lake: Scott is a 5'10", 175 lb. prospect with offers from Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Miami, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, and Oregon, among others. As a junior in 2012, he had 64 receptions for 995 yards and 10 touchdowns. According to the 247 Composite rankings, he's a 4-star, the #8 wide receiver, and the #78 player overall. Many people presume Michigan to be his leader. UPDATE: Scott committed to Clemson and probably will not make it to the BBQ.Tim Settle - DT - Manassas (VA) Stonewall Jackson: Settle is a 6'3", 307 lb. prospect for 2015 with offers from Alabama, Clemson, Florida, Miami, Ohio State, and Virginia Tech, among others. According to 247 Sports, he's a 5-star, the #2 defensive tackle, and the #8 player overall for his class. I have seen some questions on whether Michigan is interested in offering Settle, but if you watch his video, I don't see any reason not to pursue him. UPDATE: Settle, who was supposed to ride with Da'Shawn Hand, will not be able to visit now that Hand isn't visiting.Wilton Speight - QB - Richmond (VA) Collegiate: Speight committed to Michigan in February.Erik Swenson - OT - Downers Grove (IL) South: Swenson is a 6'6", 285. lb prospect for 2016 with offers from Illinois, Michigan, Northwestern, Notre Dame, and Ohio State. Michigan is his stated leader.Tyriq Thompson - LB - Detroit (MI) King: Thompson is a 6'1", 205 lb. prospect for 2015 with offers from Illinois and Wisconsin. Who says you have to put limits on yourself...on your imagination, on your dreams? Not me. While I am a college student, a non-profit director, blogger, and motivational speaker, I decided to add Plus Modeling to the list! I began my pursuit in 2011. One of my dear friends and photography major suggested that we do a fun, creative photo shoot. I had so much fun and the photos turned out great! She suggested that I pursue modeling and my initial thought was...Nah! However, I began doing research and building up my portfolio. I am proud to announce that now in 2013 I am CurvesRock Weekend's 2013 Curvy Spokesmodel. I wil have the blessed opportunity and pleasure of meeting already iconic plus models such as Anita Marshall and Liris Crosse this summer! I am anticipating a couple editorial features in a couple of magazines soon.
Anytime you can have fun, do what you love, and help and inspire people at the same time, you've found a true jewel that you should wrap your arms around and embrace. I cannot wait to see where this goes in 2 more years, before I graduate! I am all about breaking barriers and reaching new heights, if anything because of the freedom and liberation it brings for you and the others who will follow behind! Plus modeling just 5 years ago or especially 10 years ago was not very popular and scolded by many. Popular fashion designers tried to do plus model shows where people got up and walked out! However, as I'm sure you know without me waving a flag of the statistics, most people and most women wear double digits and are not a size 00 or even a size 08, yet for the longest time, renowned fashion designers had ignored this million and perhaps billion dollar market! Plus women have said ENOUGH! We are showing that world that we are strong, that we are beautiful, and that we have buying power! THAT MEAN GREEN BABY! Unfortunately as it is, most executive decisions to change something center around the revenue a decision will generate, but the bigger picture is that change is being made. More people are demanding to see beautiful thickness in the tabloids and magazines. I'm glad to be a part of the movement! Now I must set straight one last thing...being PLUS SIZE does not mean we are celebrating unhealthy lifestyles. Plus models have to exercise and eat well, just the same. EDDIE LACY- It's safe to say that Eddie Lacy might be the most known running back in this years draft. Coming off of back to back National Championships with the historic college dynasty Alabama the last two years, Eddie Lacy was a big part of that championship offense. The experts are predicting Lacy to go early in the second round. If I were to play John Fox and John Elway for a minute, I would reach late in the first round and use Denver's first pick on Eddie Lacy. A lot of people would say that this years draft is deep with explosive big play running backs and that teams can find similar value to Lacy in the later rounds. My argument for Lacy is simple. He played against the best competition in college football week in, week out, in the SEC. Lacy is accustomed to playing under the big lights on the big stage and comes from one of the most winning football programs in college history. I don't think that the NFL stage would be to "big" for a player like him. Not only that he is a bigger back with explosive play making ability. It's rare to find a running back with his size (220 pounds) and with his ability to run in the open field. He also runs tough. He has no problem running north and south and between the tackles. If Denver were to draft a RB like Eddie Lacy, I think the one-two punch between him and Ronnie Hillman could be a deadly change of pace against opposing defenses. Plus, the primary focal point in Denver is still to protect their 96 million dollar investment in Peyton Manning. Last I checked Lacy was one hell of a pass blocker as well. Might I add he also blocked and played against future first and second round defensive players week in and week out. Eddie Lacy would contribute and make an impact to this Super Bowl favored Broncos team right away.The 220-pound Lacy rushed for 1,322 yards and 17 touchdowns at Alabama this past season and has been projected as a first-round selection in the most recent mock drafts by ESPN NFL draft analysts Mel Kiper Jr. and Todd McShay.
MONTEE BALL- The theme for Denver in this years draft is to find a bigger running back that can not only run, but pass block with a impressive collegiate football resume. With that being said, Montee Ball might be the perfect fit for Denver if that's the case. Montee Ball finished his college career with over 5,000 yards rushing and 83 touchdowns. No doubt that Ball can produce offensively and has big time play making ability. The question is would Denver be the right for him? Could he produce in a Manning run offense? The other concern is did Montee Ball carry the load to much during his time at Wisconsin? Ball suffered two concussions the last two years and touched the ball over 1,000 times in college. That's a lot of ware and tare on a running back, especially if he hasn't taken a snap in the NFL just yet. A good colleague and friend of mine Glenn Kurpiel (Founder of the 5280 Ethos Sports Blog,) who is a Wisconsin native says Ball is a great back that just isn't right the Denver Broncos.If Denver were to draft Montee Ball I wouldn't expect Denver to get him before pick 58. I can see a scenario where once again John Elway and John Fox try and accumulate more draft picks by trading out of there 28th spot in the first round. If that is true, that might leave room for Denver to make a move to draft a player like Ball sometime in the third round. I don't see Denver making a stretch for him anytime before round three. Risk and reward run hand in hand. And Denver is notorious for reaching in past NFL drafts, don't expect John Elway and Fox to allow history to repeat itself. I think Montee Ball becomes a Bronco only if he falls to Denver on their draft board in the later to mid rounds.
LE'VEON BELL- Reports came out last week that the Broncos had a private workout with Michigan State running back Le'veon Bell. Some NFL experts have compared Bells game to current NFL running back Brandon Jacobs. Although, I think that Bell is more athletic then Jacobs, with a better attitude, you can see the similarities in size comparison. Bell is a big back standing at 6'2, weighing in at 237 pounds. He had an outstanding junior year at Michigan State, rushing for nearly 1,800 yards, and 33 touchdowns.Again, a concern of mine, is he took a big workload in college. His junior year he carried the ball 382 times alone. Yes, it shows that Bell is capable of taking on a big load of carries, but also shows, similar to Montee Ball, that he might already have some ware and tare before he even gets to the NFL. Bell is a great interior runner and has the athletic ability to make defenders miss when he hits the open field. Reports have it that Bell is trying to lose 10 pounds to add some more speed to the strength he already has. All in all, if Denver were to draft Le'veon Bell I think he could be an impact player very early on. I don't think he would be a week one starter but down the stretch of his rookie season he could take the starting role. If Bell is their in the third round I say no question that you take him. You might even see Elway take a player of his caliber at the 58th spot, though, some would argue that is to early to draft a player like Bell. Either way you look at it, one thing's for sure. Bell is on the Broncos radar but might not fall to them on the draft board in the right spot. Other teams such as, Pittsburgh and Green Bay are also interested in Bell.
STEPFAN TAYLOR- Stepfan Taylor might be the safest pick at the running back position some NFL experts believe. Other draft day analysts say that Taylor doesn't have the speed to make it in the NFL. From one extreme to another, maybe the biggest question mark in this years draft is how will Taylor pan out in the NFL, and where will he be drafted. Most project Taylor to be a second round player, due to his college body of work, and great fundamentals he carries. Out of all the running backs in this years draft class I believe Stepfan Taylor should be high on the Broncos RB draft list. When I watch game film of this kid he is an "old school runner." Meaning he carries the ball north and south, with great athletic ability. Taylor is honestly a running back that has all the traits a team should look for. In 2010, Taylor earned Honorable Mentioned All-Pac-10 honors after leading the Cardinal with 2,779 yards - the second-highest single-season rushing total in school history. He was the first Stanford sophomore to rush for more than 1,000 yards since Darrin Nelson in 1978. Taylor also had a nose for the end zone, with his 15 touchdowns the third-most in a single season for the Cardinal. - CBS SPORTS Like I mentioned. This kid has a great body of work coming out of Stanford. Not to mention, he has great hands and catching ability coming out of the back field. Perfect with a QB like Manning. Not only that, Elway might be a little bias towards Taylor since they are both Stanford alumni now. Sometimes when you just have a good feeling about a player. That's the case I have with both Taylor and Lacy. I have a good feeling about them.
MIKE GILLISLEE- My wildcard pick. Explosion, toughness, quick, play-maker, and very athletic. Those are just some of the words I would use to describe former Florida Gator running back Mike Gillislee. At his time in Florida he came learned patience. And not only as a runner, but as a teammate. Due to a crowded backfield Gillislee didn't really get his chance until his senior season. And when he got the opportunity he made the most of it. Unlike some of my concerns with Montee Ball and Le'veon Bell, Gillislee has few miles under his belt. His senior season he ran for over 1,100 yards and had 10 touchdowns. Not to mention he has excellent hands catching out the backfield. He honestly reminds me of a Knowshon Moreno in college. Now that might sound discouraging and strange to some Broncos fans, but before Moreno was labeled an NFL bust, it's safe to say he was a stud during his time in College down in Georgia.I like Gillislee for the simple fact that I believe he could be an impact player right away, at a very affordable price. I also like the fact that he played in the SEC, and just like Lacy, played against the best of the best as far as competition goes week in and week out. The only concern with this kid is can he learn to be a true "between the tackle" runner. He does have a tendency of bouncing outside some and trying to rely on his speed, which won't work at the next level. Bottom line though, I like the guy. Very explosive and tough runner. Projected late third to early fourth round pick.One things for sure. You never know what teams are going to do on draft day, and who they are going to draft, and if that player will pan out to be a good professional. I have never seen a "mock draft" spot on. I think many though would agree, that come draft day, the Denver Broncos will look to add another running back to their roster via the 2013 draft.
I still think that Lacy would be a good first round draft pick if the Broncos chose to go offensive in the early rounds. I also like the idea of adding a runner like Taylor maybe sometime later on if you can't grab Lacy. And I really love the idea of the Broncos drafting a kid like Gillislee sometime in the mid to late rounds. You can't deny his explosion for his draft value. I think runners like Ball and Bell, will be good professionals, and might be similar style of runners that John Fox is looking for, but I have my concerns. I don't think a back like Ball would would work in a Manning style offense. And I'm not completely sold on Bell yet. Who knows. Maybe it's none of the above. Maybe Denver finds another sleeper RB in the draft that they are notorious for. But as of now. Go Tide Go.
